RARSfest Staff Contacts

Security
Dennis Keith - NC4DK
This is the largest crew. We need shifts on Friday from Noon till 10 P.M. and on Saturday from 6 A.M. till 5 P.M. This comes to over 50 shifts. Their main job is to provide information and assistance to those attending the hamfest. They also monitor the entrances watching for anyone who needs to be politely steered toward the ticket sellers. The Fairgrounds will provide continuous uniformed "Security" from Friday through the end of the hamfest on Saturday afternoon.
Admissions
Joe Rizza - N1LVN
Another big crew, second only to Security. We need to staff about 20 shifts to sell admission tickets the hamfest on Friday from noon untill 10 P.M. at the fleamarket entrance (overhead door), and on Saturday we cover all three entrances from 5:30 A.M. till 3 P.M.

This is a sit down job that sees a lot of faces. As attendees come in, we greet them and provide tickets. It is busiest on Saturday morning when the doors first open and those early shifts will require 2 people at each table so why not get your buddy to sign up to work with you.

Setup
Doug Sweet - AD4UL
Bernard Blackmon W4BRB
This is the third largest crew. They start setting up the floor on Friday morning preparing the layout before we can give the vendors access to their tables, then work with the vendors right up till the doors open to the public on Saturday. There is no minimum or maximum number needed - the more hands there are available the easier the job will be. This job requires gloves but the job is over in time to enjoy the hamfest.
Youth Lounge
Steve Jenkins - KA8HXX
C. J. Orr - KJ4OBQ
This big hit was added RARSfest in 2008. The Youth Lounge provides a place for young hams and future hams to hang out, talk about, and learn about Ham Radio. Expect mostly middle school and high school ages. We need adults to moderate and young hams to be available as peers and mentors.
Social
Mary Jo Littlewood - K4MJL
This crew sets up and manages the room for the Friday evening dinner. Some workers are needed to setup Friday morning, some to help with the dinner,
(RARS members please bring a dish to share with our guests.)
and some to help clean up and re-arrange tables after the dinner.
Flea Market
Steve Ferrarini - KJ4BX
Flea Market duty is at the overhead door, checking folks in, assigning tables, etc. We need a few folks from Noon till 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 5:30 A.M. till about 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.
Comm Center
Bruce Buck - KC4UQN
"Talk In" operates on Friday from Noon until 8 pm and on Saturday from 6 am until 4 or 5 pm. The Comm Center also keeps a rig on for internal hamfest administrative communications.
Contests
Rick Kelly-Crapse
KB4TKQ
We need a couple of folks to judge the Homebrew contest and a couple for the 2 CW contests (QLF and QBH). We will recruit a "fox" for the fox hunt from those attending the hamfest but we will need someone to officiate the hunt. The current schedule is on the Meetings and Forums page but there is some flexibility to meet YOUR schedule.
Stage
Chip Mack
WB4ZVR
Several workers are needed on Saturday to make announcements over PA, field questions, tend to the ticket barrel, and work the help desk, etc. This has always been an "all day" job for a few people instead of a 2-hour shift but there's plenty of opportunity to get away one at a time to roam the fest. The STAGE is open from 7 AM until just after the fest closes.
Teardown
Dave Thomas
K4SAN
This crew is also known as the Dumpster Divers. When everyone else clears out, there may be some tables that need to be moved around to help dealers get out of the building. Then comes the Dumpster Diver fun. The tear down crew gets to clean up and dispose of any spoils that are left behind as they see fit.
RARS Tables
Glen Whitehouse
K1GW
To make it easier for club members to work at the hamfest, they can leave items here to be sold while they work. Starting on Friday morning this crew tags and inventories items as they are brought in. The table is manned for sales all day Saturday.
The "Test" table and hands-on tables are included here.
