DMR

Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is a digital radio standard for voice and data. It enables clear voice communication and data transmission (such as position information) through internet-connected repeaters and "hotspots."

DMR uses "time-division multiple access" to divide a 12.5 KHz signal into two 6.25 kHz-wide "time slots," which allows two simultaneous conversations or data streams on the same frequency. "Talkgroups" further prevent interference on a channel similarly to the way CTCSS tones do.

To use a DMR radio, you need to program it with a "code plug," which contains your DMR ID and the necessary information about "time slots" and "talkgoups."
