HAM RADIO Talk on WPTF

The Raleigh Amateur Radio Society was invited
to talk about ham radio and the RARSfest on the
Tom Kearney "Open Line" show on WPTF radio
(680 kHz AM, 50,000 watts from Raleigh, NC) on
Wednesday, April 7, 1999.  The show ran two hours.

How did we fill the time?  A better question is "how much did
we leave out?"  We had a blast!  We rambled through many
topics, took a few phone calls, and ran out of time way too
early.  Let's do it again!

Tom Kearney, the host, used to hold a Novice license -  KN4ENI ! Perhaps we can get him back on ham radio?	KN4AQ Gary makes an earnest point. One of several hundred, according to KD4ACW (his wife - see below).  Gary is NC Section PIC, and RARS President.
Jeff AC4ZO, RARS Secretary, got to talk about CW a little bit.	RARSfest chairman Cyndi KD4ACW promoted the RARS hamfest.  That's the back of web master Cliff KF4RDP's head.  He shot the video these stills came from.
Denyse and Eric were just finishing the RARS class - about to take their tests! Mic-fright?  You couldn't tell by listening to them.	KN4AQ makes another earnest point.
So, how was the class? "It was hard!" Denyse is now KG4CXR	"It was easy!" Eric is now KG4CXW Look for Denyse and Eric on Raleigh/Durham area repeaters. Tell'em you saw them on the radio!
